Accordions, Fairies and Puppets- presentation

In this one-hour presentation, Marinette Berkeljon will discuss the music of Czech composer Vaclav Trojan (1907 – 1983) as an introduction to Dalasinfoniettan’s upcoming performance of his work Fairy Tales for accordion and orchestra. This is a collaboration between Dalasinfoniettans vänner och Folkuniversitetet Dalarna.

Accordions, Fairies and Puppets: A look at the music of Vaclav Trojan.

In this one-hour presentation, Marinette Berkeljon will discuss the music of Czech composer Vaclav Trojan (1907 – 1983) as an introduction to Dalasinfoniettan’s upcoming performance of his work Fairy Tales for accordion and orchestra.

No particular knowledge will be needed by participants but a willingness to embrace the fantastical. The presentation will be in English. Additionally there will be a screening of the 1950 film Prince Bajaja by Czech filmmaker and puppet-master Jiri Trnka with score by Trojan for participants who would like to delve deeper into this magical world.

Limited number of seats to twelve. The presentation will be in English. Pre-book your place on "Boka kursen nu". The presentation will be hold at Folkuniversitetet Dalarna, Slaggatan 8, Falun.

About Marinette Berkeljon Lintvelt

Marinette was a music teacher in New Zealand for more than 40 years before emigrating to Sweden a year ago.

She taught piano and violin primarily by Suzuki Method, with the addition of cello in 2008. As well as individual tuition, she held music appreciation and theory classes, formed a small string orchestra, piano trios and quartets for children from two years old to school-leaving age. Her full-time studio also provided tuition for adults. Marinette’s students excelled in external examinations in theory and practical. She has recently been honoured with a Life Membership by the New Zealand Suzuki Institute for her contribution.

Marinette’s special interests include early-childhood instrumental classes, small ensembles and teaching music theory to all ages with a fun, interactive method.

She remains passionate about the concept of music education being one of the keys to world peace and happiness.
