Acrylic painting for beginners
The class is aimed for everyone who wants to learn to paint with acrylics or want to continue their practice.
No prior studies are required. If you already have painted before there might be some repetition of the basics.
The class is aimed for everyone who wants to learn to paint with acrylic or want to continue their practice. Acrylic is a great material for classical, as well as contemporary painting. It have a look similar to oil paint, but dries much faster and is easy to clean off brushes since it is water based. We will study color theory, composition, and perspective. We will paint self-portraits, live model, and still life. If the wheatear allows, we will paint flowers and landscapes outside.
The class will be given group assignments followed by individual feedback. Anna will introduce new topics with images from art history as well as contemporary art. The class is focused on developing individual skills and personal expression. Every class ends with a group critique where we get inspired by each other’s work and review our own development.
Art supply is not included in the course fee. The participants will be given a shopping list first day of class.
Born and raised in Stockholm, Anna Sörenson received her BFA from Umeå University in Sweden. In 2012, Anna received her MFA from Pratt Institute, New York supported by her Fulbright Scholarship. 2014 she graduated from Posthogeschool voor Podiumkunsten a post-master program in performance art in Brussels, Belgium. Since 2012 she is represented by Ed Varie in New York City. She has exhibited her work in Stockholm, Brussels, Berlin, Paris, Mexico City, Miami and New York. In Stockholm, she has worked at Moderna Museet as a pedagog and guided the museums collection and temporary exhibitions. She geuset lectures in both Sweden and the US.
