Selection criteria and the selection process
If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available programme places, a selection process must be conducted to select successful applicants. Applicants that do not meet the eligibility requirements but that can be expected to benefit from the programme and professional role can be considered on the basis of their actual skills or after a open trial.
Selection criteria – grades
The programme requires final grades from upper secondary school, upper secondary adult education, folk high school or equivalent. Final grades or equivalent are worth 1 point in the selection process. Maximum 1 point.
A special test in the form of a practical work test conducted at the school is included as part of the selection process. The work test is evaluated according to the following criteria: problem solving ability 1-5 points, craftsmanship 1-5 points and attention to detail 1-5 points. Maximum 15 points.
Previous post-secondary education in the programme field and post-secondary training in fine carpentry, metalwork and music can be included in the selection process. All previous training and education must be documented in writing. Each completed month of full-time study up to a maximum of 30 months is worth 0.2 points. A completed month of half-time study is worth 0.1 points. Maximum 6 points.
Professional experience must be documented in writing and should have been gained in the professional fields of fine carpentry, metalwork or music. Entrepreneurship in industries other than the above professional fields can also be considered after validation by the selection team. Each completed month of full-time work up to a maximum of 30 months is worth 0.2 points. A completed month of half-time work is worth 0.1 points. Maximum 6 points.
In cases where an applicant does not meet the eligibility requirements but can be expected to benefit from the programme and professional role, the eligibility requirements can in some cases be disregarded. If the applicant has actual skills from other educational programmes, professional experience or other circumstances, the applicant can be validated and become eligible.
20% of the programme places are open to participants accepted on the basis of an open trial. In other words, people who do not meet the eligibility requirements can also apply for the programme.
