Didier Chape started dancing in his hometown, Montlucon, before going to Paris to perfect it. Thereafter he moved to Brussels to join Mudra - the school of Maurice Bejart. He then joined the Ballet du XXème siècle and then the Bejart Ballet Lausanne. After 12 years spent with Maurice Bejart, he became a ballet master in various companies and had the chance to work with choreographers such as William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Mats Ek, Pär Isberg, Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian, Crytal Pite, Douglas Lee, among others.
In 1996, he made a parenthesis in his career to pass his exam as a ballet teacher in Lyon. Directly after he was engaged at the conservatory of music and dance in Lyon as a ballet teacher. In 1998 Maurice Bejart offered him the chance to become an artistic collaborator for a new project called "Group 13" with students from Rudra Bejart school. He created the show "Che, Quixote and Bandoneon" which was performed for over two years around the world.
Since September 2016, he is a freelance guest teacher for various dance companies such as Norrdans, Tanz Theater Basel, Greek National Opera Ballet, Ballet Bern, Scapino Ballet, Gaertnerplatz Ballet Munich, TanzMainz, Tanz Luzerner theater, Tanztheater Kassel, among others.
