Joakim Stephenson

Joakim Stephenson was trained at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm between 1983-1991. He joined the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1991 and became a solist in 2007.
He was a member of Ballet Monte Carlo 2008-2009 and guested with Hongkong Ballet in August after his retirement in june 2016. He was also a member of the touring company Stockholm 59°North, comprised of soloists and principals of the Royal Swedish Ballet. Stockholm 59°North also commissioned Joakim to choreograph.
In 2005 he was an initiator of the summer course "Gotland International Dance Seminar" where he taught ballet, pas de deux and workshops. He has staged Alexander Ekmans ballet Tyll in Essen for Allto balleto, in Chicago for Joffrey Ballet, for the Ballet of Flanders and at Stanislavsky Ballet in Moscow. Joakim lives in Stockholm and works as freelance choreographer and teacher. He is an ABT Certified Teacher in pre-primary through level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum and was a balletmaster with Cincinnati Ballet summer 2017.
