Swedish as a Foreign Language
Our distance courses in the Swedish Language are available in seven different levels, from beginner to advanced level. The levels correspond to the Council of Europe Language Scale levels A1 to C1.
The courses are built around the study material "På Svenska" and use an Internet-based platform. The study material is widely used in intensive Swedish language courses both in Sweden and abroad and the study book for distance courses 1 and 2 is therefore available in the following languages: Arabic, English, French, German and Spanish. The authors of the material are instructors at ISU Program who will guide you all throughout the course.
Each course consists of 15 lessons and is equivalent to 60 classroom hours. However, you meet your teacher through Skype upon your mutual agreement. The amount of Skype hours per course vary from course to course. You finish a lesson by sending your teacher a written assignment, on which you will get individual feedback. You practice your listening comprehension and your pronunciation skills using the accompanying audio material. The courses also offer you extra self-correcting exercises, the chance to discuss different topics with other course participants and a collection of useful links to Swedish websites. Instructions are available both in Swedish and in English for the first course. From course 2, the main part of instruction is in Swedish.
