Participants use the game cards and their collective intelligence to learn about different textile materials and the life cycle of a piece of clothing. They then identify the social & ecological impacts at each step, and brainstorm ways to reduce those impacts. Textiles Untangled's goal is not just to transmit knowledge, but to inspire people to act. During the workshop, participants brainstorm necessary changes within society & the industry, understand their own spheres of influence, and identify action they can take, both individually and as a collective.
What do you need for the workshop?
This is a 3-hour workshop. All material will be provided by the facilitator.
Who created this?
Textiles Untangled is the work of Green Donut, a volunteer-led non-profit that was started in Paris in 2019. Green Donut’s mission is to educate the maximum number of people about the social & environmental impacts of our systems and move them to act. Our name and mission are inspired by the Doughnut economic model by Kate Raworth, which promotes the idea of a safe and just economy that respects both planetary limits and social boundaries. Our members come from a wide range of professions - from musicians & designers to professionals in education & sustainable development. In addition to Textiles Untangled, Green Donut volunteers have created La Fresque des Déchets (French only), a workshop on what happens to our waste.
