Who is this course for?

The course is designed to prepare military and security personnel and civil servants to take up roles where they will need to use English on a regular basis.  It is aimed at students from B1 to C1 advanced level. Unsure of your language level? Please take our online language level test.

Course Objectives

•  Build your confidence through discussion activities on a range of subjects associated with the armed forces such as military organisation, technology, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, combat search and rescue.
•  Practice speaking skills through giving and receiving orders, role-plays, negotiations and presentations.
•  Develop the specific language needed to communicate in a variety of different situations such as describing roles, command structure, sending, checking and clarifying messages.

•  Expand your vocabulary and learn key terminology and specialist technical terms.

Course Structure

The focus is on spoken and written communication. We use practical situations and work with pair and group exercises, listening comprehension and conversation. You are expected to be active in the lessons and you will have the opportunity to influence the content and structure of the course. Expect a few hours of homework between the course sessions. 

Teacher

The course is taught exclusively in English by a teacher who has English as a native language.

Course book

The text book is not included in the course fee. Information about which book you will use and where you can buy it will be sent after registration.
