Target group
This is a course in Swedish for you who have studied about 30 hours from A1 beginners level. Take our online placement test before booking yourself.
Aim of the course
After this course your level of Swedish will be A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference. When you have completed this level you can introduce yourself and ask others about their name and where they live. You can understand and use simple words and phrases concerning your needs or everyday situations. You can communicate with someone who speaks slowly and clearly.
Contents
This is the second part (of two) of the Swedish course for level A1. You will continue to learn to deal with simple day-to-day situations such as presenting yourself and ask for directions. At the end of the course you will be able to communicate about simple topics with someone who speaks slowly and clearly. In this course you will learn:
- simple words and phrases
- to talk about yourself
- to ask simple questions and understand simple answers
- basic grammar
- to talk and write in Swedish about simple subjects
- about Swedish culture and society
Course structure
The teaching is in Swedish from the beginning and the main focus is on oral communication. We use practical daily life situations for practicing - in pairs or in small groups. We work a lot with listening comprehension and conversation skills, where grammar is intergrated.
You are expected to take an active part in the lessons and your personal points of view are a valuable contribution to how the course is conducted. To benefit from the course you should plan for a few hours of homework per week.
OPTIONAL: Extended course
In addition to your morning course, you can choose to have additional hours to practise your individual needs in grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, professional language etc. Read more about how you book this here.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
When booking this course you will also be invited to a language café and a guided citywalk free of charge in the afternoons. We will inform you more about this once the course has started.
Teacher
Our teachers are well-qualified and experienced. They teach exclusively in Swedish.
Course literature
Rivstart A1+A2, text and excercise book, revision 3. Course books are not included in the course fee. You buy it online, we do not sell course books at the school.

Kursledare
Jenny Engelbrektsson
Jag heter Jenny Engelbrektsson, jag är språkvetare i grunden med stor förkärlek för svenska i text och tal. Utöver det älskar jag även stickning, som är såväl min hobby som min passion, och då och då undervisar jag till och med i det. Jag bor med min hund Bono i Bergsjön, Göteborg.
Jag undervisar i Svenska som främmande språk, främst på distans och för föräldralediga, just nu på A1 och B1-nivå. Dessutom jobbar jag med lite specialkurser som är inriktade på att hjälpa utlandsfödda kvinnor att komma närmare arbetsmarknaden, samtidigt som de får jobba med sin svenska.
Jag är som sagt språkvetare, med svenska som huvudämne, och jag har också studerat litteraturvetenskap och svenska som andraspråk på universitetet, så jag är ämnesbehörig att undervisa i svenska på gymnasienivå, och SFI. Att lära ut svenska till vuxna är det roligaste jobb jag någonsin har haft!
Med mina kurser vill jag att mina deltagare får större självförtroende, att de vågar prata och uttrycka sig på svenska är det viktigaste för mig. Dessutom ska vi ha roligt, och känna att klassrummet är en trygg plats där vi får och vågar försöka.
Min drömkurs som lärare vore en kurs där mina elever lärde sig sticka och prata svenska samtidigt.
Dessutom tackar jag sällan nej till en utmaning.
